"What Is The Good Life" Collage

For the honors What Is The Good Life class I was required to make a collage with images that represent aspects of what I feel represents a good life. Each image has a different meaning and represents something that I think is a necessity to a good life. For Example the graduation hat and books represents the need for education in a good life, the joggers represent staying active and healthy, and the woman reading represents the importance of taking time out of your day to relax. The assignment really made me think about what is considered a good life and what it means to have a good life.

Literacy Rates and Democracy

For my honors project in statistics  I decided to look for a relationship between the literacy rates of a country and whether the county can be considered democratic or not. Based on the literacy rates, collected from UNICEF, from over 80 different countries I found, with 95% confidence that literacy rates in democratic countries are, on average, between 7.67% and 21.29% higher than countries with governments that can be considered non-democratic.

The project was presented in class on  4/8/14.

Variations in stage design of

     "August: Osage County"

This project was done for my honors English 2 class during the spring 2014 semester. For this presentation I looked at the stage design of “August: Osage county” from a variety of different playhouses. I compared and contrasted the different set designers based on a variety of factors. Designing a set for this play is a challenge because the play takes place inside of a large house the entire time. Because space on stage is often very limited, the stage designers had to get very creative with the way they build the house.

Midterm Paper: Problems with Congress        and the 2014 midterm ellection.

This project was done for my honors American national government class. The paper centers around problems that are present in Congress based largely off of the New York Time’s bestseller “It’s Even Worse Than It Looks”. The paper also covers the results of the 2014 midterm election and what the results mean for our legislative branch.

Policy Breif; Ebola and West Africa

This paper was done for my international relations class. The assignment required that I pick a global issue, research information on that issue, then write a policy brief to an organization about steps that should be taken to solve that issue. The issue that I chose was the 2014 Ebola epidemic in West Africa and the organization that I chose to advise was the CDC.

"What Is The Good Life"                    Reflection Essay

This essay was one of the final assignments for honors “what is a good life?”.  In this essay I analyzed three works that where discussed in class using elements from Lao Tzu’s Tao Te Ching and F.T Marinetti’s Futurist Manifesto. Despite the differences between these two works, they each have elements that are essential to a good life.

Work-Family Policies;

     U.S V. Sweden

This is a group PowerPoint presentation on the work and family policies of the U.S and Sweden that was presented in honors marriage and family. For this project I was assigned to look at the family policies that Sweden has in place. I found the project to be very interesting because it allowed me to compare many of the policies here in the U.S to those of another country, Sweden.
